The Chinese and German parliaments are to enhance dialogue, reduce differences and expand common ground so as to push forward relations, senior officials agreed on Aug. 28.
"We hope Germany would have a comprehensive, objective and correct understanding about China," said Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress(NPC), when meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel who arrived here on Sunday on her second visit to China as German Chancellor.
Wu said vigorous exchanges between China and Germany in parliamentary field had promoted mutual understanding of the peoples and played a crucial role in promoting relations.
He said Sino-German relations had expanded since they forged diplomatic ties 35 years ago, and China would continue to enhance the relationship.
Merkel said Germany and China had maintained a candid dialogue and substantial cooperation, stressing that Germany would like to have a better relation with China.
She hoped to further cooperation on politics, trade, and the protection of intellectual property rights.
She met with Chinese President Hu Jintao and held talks with her Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on Monday. Source: Xinhua |
